Screech Owl Kite Puppet

Screech Owl kite puppet created for Japanese music academy Seiji Ozawa Ongaku Juku’s production of Ravel’s “L’Enfant et les Sortileges” (“The Child and the Sorceries”). In order to be lightweight enough to float above an audience, the body is a hollow cage made of plastic boning covered with faux fur. Feathers individually crafted and sewn to a base of stiffened linen. Supported by thin fiberglass rod. Airbrushed.

Scenic design by Sarah Conly.
